Hmm if you want to buy a prepaid
simcard in Thailand at least from DTAC you better be
able to read Thai. That is because you will get a sms asking you if it
is ok to give your number to some news businesses that will then send you an sms every hour 24/7
in Thai about something, news I guess. This you of course pay for
so the bath is going of your card fast. Trying to contact DTAC they say they will reimburse the baths that are taken off. And they do and that it will take 24 hours in order for them to get this service stopped. Well 24 hours later we don't only receive sms from the one company but from one more company! Again we contacted DTAC and again a lot of apologies and 24 hours later, money back. Well of course 24 hours later we still receive sms's and this time we call them and tell them we regard this as stealing and that we will throw away the simcard if this doesn't stop now!!!!........A lot of excuses and yet again 24 hours ( as if we believe them). We went to Laos the next day and didn't use the simcard anymore until we now are back in Thailand and we are curious if the sms-ing finally has stopped......(we found out it finaly stopped when we where back in thailand) since it is convenient to have a prepaid cell phone. The lesson here is to put in a Thai simcard in the phone where you bought it and show any and all Thai sms to the people there and let them answer no for you before you leave the store. Then you hopefully will not have the same trouble as us. |
